Readers tips and Monthly specials

To all our valued clients:

We have undergone some changes to our Monthly tip page, but we would still like you to join in.
We ask that anybody who has a problem area or query that is outdoor related to contact us via mail at herman@herdalandscaping.co.za and tell us what it is, send pictures etc. then on a monthly basis we will randomly pick one query and answer that to you as our monthly tip on our web page.
We have also started advertising our specials and certain give always, these might change at anytime thro the month so make sure that you keep going back online to see if there is anything new. 

August gardening tip:

In the month of August you should test your soil ph before applying lime to the soil. Collect all dropped leaves from trees in your garden and ad them to your compost heap should you have one. This time of the year you can start keeping your eyes open to the specific seeds and bulbs you would want in your summer garden even order them so long should your local nursery not stock them. Please remember DO NOT cut down dead leaves due to frost from plants as they serve as protection to the core of the plant and if cut down your plant will just burn again if we get any more frost.
You can start planting container grown trees and shrubs. Check stores bulbs, corms and tubers for mould and rot. Give your lawn a nice trim down and clean your lawnmower for winter storage. Plant hedges (bareroot), and lift layered plants.
Remember in winter its saver to have your irrigation come on in the mornings so all frost can be washed off your plants before the son shines on it and burn it. NOTE do not let it come on to early and stand the chance of water still freezing on your plants.

Always remember winter is not the time to leave your garden to be and only think of focusing on it again in the summer months, even though you don't see growth on the plants winter is the time where your roots settle and group to more roots witch makes your garden flourish in summer. So don't be scared or worried winter is a good time to still have your landscaper do the garden or for you to ad and remove in the garden as you wish.
